History

Tepson can trace its origins back to 1997 when Linda Lee, a Chinese linguist, decided to set up her own translation business. In the 1990s translation work was sent and received by fax, letters or modem. Clients were generally based in the UK. Translators were also hired locally. Over time, a larger network of mainly UK linguists was established offering dedicated Chinese translation work. From its earliest days the firm was characterised by a “can do”, customer orientated approach to translation, and developed a reputation for fast turnaround of quality work.

With the emergence of China in the 1990s, Tepson started to get increasing amount of work directly from our clients in the UK and Holland. Key partners joined the business, and the business partnership was formed in 2004. This paved the way for keeping the best talents in the business.

In 2010, Tepson was acquired by Sparkton Language Services. The acquisition provided Tepson with a platform to undertake other language work for some of our large Chinese language clients.
